Dog Name: Lilly
Number: 662
Age: 9½ Years (DoB 2/2008 est.) Sex: Female
Coat: Black and White
Eyes: Bi-eyed (one Brown, one Parti)
Intake: 7/6/2017

One of Lilly's owners passed away recently and the other was unable to continue caring for her. Unfortunately none of the family was able to take her in either so they contacted SHRF.

Lilly has been quite spoiled over the years, especially when it comes to food. She is quite the "beggar" of whatever it is you are eating so you need to be firm and ignore her (this will also help in her losing several pounds to get down to a more healthy weight).

She gets along well with other dogs, just needs a little time to get acclimated and get to know the other dog before she is comfortable. Lilly has met some of the neighborhood dogs near her foster home and has been very friendly with them. She has somewhat of an alpha personality so would either do well as an only dog or a home with other non-alpha dogs.

Lilly is very social and loves her humans and meeting new people. This is likely why she gets very excited when she sees the leash come out, and she walks well on lead. She also does well with children of all ages. Lilly is very sweet and wants to be treated like the princess she is.

She is housebroken and will let you know when she needs to go out with a little cry. Lilly suffers from epilepsy so has quiet seizures every now and then but this is successfully controlled by medication. She has no problem taking her medication wrapped in a piece of cheese. She is obedient and knows commands such as sit, paw, and down.

Lilly loves hands on attention and being petted. However, she is easily startled with sudden hand movements and prefers that you to introduce yourself to her first by allowing her to sniff your hand. If you stop petting her before she wants you to, she will nudge your hand with her paw....did we mention Lilly thinks she's a princess? How could she not be with being as pretty as she is with her big, brown Bambi eyes, one of which has flecks of blue making it unique?

Other than needing to lose several pounds and dealing with her epilepsy, Lilly is healthy, Heartworm negative, up-to-date on vaccines, microchipped and spayed. She is on the downhill side of her life now after years of faithful companionship and needs a loving, forever home to live out the few years she has left. Give her this chance; fill out an adoption application at the upper left corner of this page, today.
