Maya came into our rescue about a year ago as a victim of the hurricane in Puerto Rico and was brought to Florida and put into a homeless shelter. She was almost immediately adopted out but was recently been returned as she was found to be not cat friendly, which is no surprise since Huskies have a high prey drive. Her adopters hoped she would accept the cat as part of her pack but that did not happen.
Maya has a beta personality and is super friendly with kids and other dogs. Maya loves belly rubs...seriously, this Husky LOVES belly rubs. You have never known guilt until Maya looks at you if you don't rub her belly or stop before she is finished.
She is a counter surfer so needs some work in that area. Maya is sneaky so be sure to keep the garbage out of site under the sink or in another room behind closed doors and do not leave or store any food on the counter.
Maya walks well on lead, listens well and is an all-around sweet girl. One of Maya's forms of entertainment is chasing lizards. She appears to be quite content in her foster home and likes to sit or lay by your feet. Maya will try to howl/talk when she gets excited. She does well on car rides and sticks her head out the window to feel the breeze.
Since she was raised in Puerto Rico, she may very well understand commands in Spanish; we just don’t know.
Maya is Heartworm negative, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, microchipped and healthy (although needs to lose some weight). Maya will make a great addition to any family. Fill out an adoption application at the upper left corner of this page, today.
