PROTECT YOUR
PET FOR LIFE!
Has your dog/cat ever gotten loose and lost his/her collar, only to
be eventually found at the local shelter on adoption row because of
no identification, or worse still not found AT ALL? The Siberian Husky
Rescue of Florida, Inc. has taken notice of the increased benefits
of retrieving pets through the AVID micro-chipping service. AVID and
the PETtrac system are excellent ways to protect your pets from theft,
and accidental loss. With AVID chip scanners, almost a staple in every
shelter, animal hospital, animal control unit, research lab and emergency
clinic the probability of a pet being returned is high. The system
works by injecting the hypoallergenic microchip into the pet and then
registering that number with the PETtrac database. When a scanner
is run along the pet's back the number assigned that pet is retrieved
and can be looked up on the PETtrac database. Avid and the PETtrac
system have been proven invaluable to pet owners who have found their
lost pets with this method.
This
is why SHRF, Inc. has decided to offer microchips to the general public,
FOR $25 EACH (INCLUDING REGISTRATION),
so that all DOGS or CATS can be safely returned to their owners. Vet's
charge anywhere from $25 to $95 to chip a dog or cat and DO NOT include
the registration (usually an additional $15-$18). Please consider
micro-chipping your pets for their safety and your peace of mind.
Should you ever find a stray without a collar PLEASE take it to a
local shelter or veterinarian to have it scanned for a chip. You could
be reuniting a furbaby with his/her frantic parents. Some strays will
have a AVID tag on his/her collar, call AVID PETtrac 800 336-AVID
right away and report you found the animal. Contact us at found@siberrescue.com
for more information on when and where the next chip clinic will be held.
